SEWELL CHIEF HEADING TO BGR: Chay English, chief of staff to Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Ala.) will join BGR Group as a vice president next month, where he will focus on financial services as well as tax and health care issues. English, who has worked for the House Ways and Means vice chair for roughly a decade, told PI in an interview that he’s equipped to help the firm, whose bipartisan credentials he lauded, navigate a closely divided Washington, noting that “being a Democrat from Alabama, you learn how to play nice with Republicans.” English said he’s not expecting any kind of full repeal of the 2017 GOP tax bill but predicted the Financial Services and Ways and Means committees would have their hands full in the next Congress with President-elect Joe Biden’s “robust agenda” in the tax and health care spaces.
