Biden Transition News, Inaugural Committee, December 1, 2020

WHAT

On Monday, November 30 and Tuesday, December 1, President-elect Biden announced the members of his Inaugural Committee. Brief biographies for each individual are below.

 

Tony Allen, Chief Executive Officer

Allen is the President of Delaware State University, one of the nation’s top HBCUs. Allen previously served as Delaware State University’s Executive Vice President and Provost. Before joining Delaware State University, Allen led the corporate reputation group at Bank of America and co-chaired the Global Marketing & Corporate Affairs Diversity & Inclusion Council. Allen is the founding president of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League and Public Allies Delaware. Allen previously served as a speechwriter for then-Senator Biden.

 

Yvanna Cancela, Deputy Executive Director

Cancela is a State Senator, representing the 10th district of Nevada, and is the Executive Director of the Immigrant Workers Citizenship Project. Previously, Cancela served as the Political Director for the Culinary Workers Union. Cancela was one of the 17 co-Keynote speakers at the 2020 DNC and was one of the convention’s parliamentarians. She served as a field organizer for the re-election campaign of Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) in 2010.

 

Adrienne Elrod, Talent and External Relations

Elrod was the Director of Surrogate Strategy and Operations for the Biden campaign. Before joining the campaign, Elrod was President of Elrod Strategies. She was the Director of Strategic Communications and Surrogates for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. Previously, Elrod was VP of Communications at Correct the Record, and was Chief of Staff for Representative Loretta Sanchez (D-CA). She was the Deputy Director of Congressional Delegate Operations for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Representative Ron Klein (D-FL), and Regional Press Secretary for the DSCC.

 

Alana Mounce, Chief of Staff

Mounce was the Nevada State Director for the Biden campaign. Before joining the Biden campaign, she was the Executive Director of the Nevada Democratic Party. Mounce previously worked for DNC Chair Tom Perez and for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign in Colorado.

 

Katie Petrelius, Finance Director

Petrelius was the National Finance Director for the Biden campaign. Before joining the Biden campaign, she was the Director of Development for the Biden Foundation. Previously, Petrelius served as the Northeast Finance Director for the DSCC and as National Finance Director for Joe Kennedy for Congress.

 

Pili Tobar, Communications Director

Tobar was the Communications Director for Coalitions for the Biden campaign and the incoming Deputy White House Communications Director for the Biden administration. Previously, Tobar was Managing Director then Deputy Director of America’s Voice. Tobar has served as the Hispanic Media Director for Senator Schumer (D-NY), as Communications Director for the Latino Victory Project, and as the Director of Hispanic Media for the DNC.

 

 

 

Christian Tom, Digital Director

Tom was the Head of Digital Partnerships for the Biden campaign. Before joining the campaign, Tom was SVP of Brand Partnerships for Group Nine Media. Previously, Tom was VP of Sales and Publishing for The Dodo and NowThis. Tom also was a Global Accounts and Senior Account Manager at Twitter and a Display Sales Account Manager at Google.

 

Maju Varghese, Executive Director

Varghese was the Chief Operating Officer and a senior advisor for the Biden campaign. Varghese previously served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Advance, before then becoming the Assistant to the President for Management and Administration in the Obama-Biden administration. Before joining the Biden campaign, Varghese was a Senior Advisor at Dentons then COO of The Hub Project.

 

Erin Wilson, Deputy Executive Director

Wilson was the National Political Director for the Biden campaign. Previously, Wilson served as State Director for Senator Bob Casey (D-PA). She served as Deputy State Director for Pennsylvania for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and as Northeast Political Director for the DNC. Before joining the DNC, Wilson was Deputy State Director for Senator Casey.
