WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 27, 2023) – BGR Group, Washington, D.C.’s premier bipartisan lobbying and public relations firm, today announced that Briget Polichene, former CEO of the Institute of International Bankers (IIB), a trade association that represents internationally-headquartered financial institutions that engage in banking and securities activities in the United States, will join its Advisory Board with an emphasis on financial services issues.
“With a broad background in financial services legislation, regulation, and advocacy, including dual industry experience in banking and insurance at the federal and state level, Briget brings uniquely valuable experience to BGR,” BGR Financial Services Practice Chair Andy Lewin said. “Briget has been an incredible leader and resource for member companies at the IIB, and she’ll bring that same expertise and approach to policy in advising BGR clients.”
BGR Vice President Keaghan Ames, who worked with Briget at the IIB, added “Briget’s deep knowledge of Washington and her ingenuity in approaching advocacy will be assets for BGR and our clients. During our time at the IIB together, we successfully navigated policy priorities ranging from tax to prudential regulation and I look forward to collaborating with her again on these issues.”
“We are honored to have Briget join the BGR Advisory Board,” BGR Chairman and CEO Bob Wood said. “Her broad experience in the public and private sectors will be an excellent addition to our burgeoning financial services practice.”
In addition to her position at IIB, Briget’s private sector roles include senior advocacy and regulatory affairs roles with MetLife and Citigroup, Director with Promontory, financial Group and of counsel and associate positions at nationally-recognized law firms. Prior to joining the IIB in 2018, Briget was Vice President and Head of Federal Government Relations at MetLife, where she developed and executed MetLife’s federal advocacy strategy. Briget was previously at Promontory Financial Group, advising clients on regulatory compliance and risk management. She joined Promontory from Citigroup, where she was a Managing Director and General Counsel of State and Local Government Relations. Briget also served as General Counsel to the House Banking Committee (now the House Financial Services Committee), as the General Counsel of the Indiana Department of Insurance, and as a governor-appointed member of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions Board, which is charged with policy making for state-chartered financial institutions.
Briget received her J.D. with honors from Duke University and a B.A. in economics from Johns Hopkins University.
