Alex Ellis joined the BGR’s Public Relations team in early 2016, after almost a year as a research clerk at the firm. Prior to joining BGR, Alex worked on both sides of Capitol Hill, first for a Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.) on the House Ways and Means Committee, and then for Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) of the Senate Armed Services Committee. He also interned in the office of then-Mississippi Gov. Haley R. Barbour.
Alex earned his Master of Arts with Honors in History from the University of Saint Andrews in Scotland. His studies at St. Andrews focused on the Islamic world and Russia. His master’s dissertation examined ethnic and religious conflicts in Kiev on the eve of World War I. Alex also attended the University of Mississippi, Le College International de Cannes and Choate Rosemary Hall.

He has guided clients through the process of writing and placing opinion pieces in major publications in the U.S. and abroad. He regularly monitors political media, general news sources and industry-specific publications with an eye toward identifying both challenges and opportunities for our clients. He also drafts news releases and assists with media outreach and strategic planning.
An avid traveler, Alex is conversant in French and a huge fan of Scottish football.
