Jonathan Mantz is a Principal of BGR Government Affairs and leads the firm’s Democratic outreach efforts. He joined the firm in 2009. Over the past two decades, Jonathan held senior positions to elect Democrats to the White House, Senate, House of Representatives, and governorships. A leading political strategist, he raised nearly half a billion dollars over his career for Democratic campaigns.
At BGR Group, Jonathan works with Fortune 500 companies, start-ups, non-profits and research institutions by utilizing his experience and expertise to provide a wide range of services in government relations and public affairs. Jonathan provides counsel and executes strategies that deliver results in Washington, D.C. and in state capitals across the United States. He works with clients to strengthen their political affairs operations and helps organizations create and enhance advisory boards and boards of directors. His recommendations have improved organizations’ market standing and exponentially increased networking and exposure to new sets of communities and constituencies.
As a member of the Finance Committee of the Democratic Governors Association, he works with Democratic governors and gubernatorial candidates across the country. He has also been a Business Council member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
Jonathan served as National Finance Director for then-Senator Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign throughout 2007–2008 and was responsible for generating and implementing fundraising strategies while managing a staff of 60. The campaign raised more than $235 million in an 18-month period.
From 2003 to 2005, Jonathan was a Principal at Podesta Mattoon, where he implemented outreach strategies and messaging to help clients’ achieve political, policy, and communications goals. He served as Deputy Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) in 2004, where he revitalized the DSCC’s fundraising operation, more than doubling what the committee raised in a single year. Jonathan was the Finance Director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from 1998 to 2002 for former Democratic Leader Richard Gephardt.

Born in the suburbs of Philadelphia and a die-hard Eagles fan, Jonathan is a graduate of Ithaca College in New York. He has two sons and resides in Chevy Chase, MD where they are members of Har Shalom Synagogue. Jonathan serves on the advisory boards of Petra Solar Corporation, Priorities USA, 100k Strong Foundation and is a mentor to start-up companies at 1776, a Washington D.C. incubator and accelerator platform for start-up companies and entrepreneurs.
