Ryan Dalton Bolsters Firm’s Bipartisan Advocacy before State and Federal Decision-makers.
Washington, D.C. – September 17, 2018: BGR Government Affairs announces that Ryan Dalton has joined the firm focusing on advocacy before state and local decision-makers on behalf of the firm’s clients. Until August, Ryan was serving as a senior policy advisor to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Deputy Director of Governor Cuomo’s Washington, D.C. Office. As one of Governor Cuomo’s longest-serving aides, Ryan brings more than a decade of experience managing state and federal policy as well as government affairs.
As the primary liaison for Governor Cuomo to both the National Governors Association (NGA) and the Democratic Governors Association (DGA)—on which Governor Cuomo serves as policy chair—Ryan has worked across state and party lines on a wide array of significant policy and political issues, including economic development, internet sales tax and tax reform, education, transportation, agriculture, energy, health care and housing. As an aggressive advocate for New York State, he developed solid working relations with the New York Congressional delegation, state legislators as well as many of the state’s mayors.
Led by former Mississippi governor and RGA Chairman Haley Barbour, BGR’s state and local government affairs team helps clients to successfully work with Governors, Lieutenant Governors, Attorneys General, legislative leaders and mayors. BGR Government Affairs recently announced the opening of a new Texas office in Austin led by long-time advisor to Governor Greg Abbott, Jerry Strickland.
Commenting on Ryan Dalton, BGR President Bob Wood stated, “We pride ourselves on providing clients with effective advocacy and strategic guidance in capitals across the country. With so much activity impacting the business community occurring at the state and local levels, Ryan will significantly expand our team’s reach.” Ryan Dalton offered, “After a decade of serving New York State in New York and Washington, I am looking forward to bringing my policy and political experience to BGR. I know what it takes to drive change and deliver results, and I am excited for this opportunity to grow BGR’s widely respected bipartisan state and local government practice. “
Ryan is a native of upstate New York and a graduate of Fordham University.
