WASHINGTON, D.C., June 20, 2018 – BGR Group, a leading lobbying and public relations firm, today announced the promotion of Bob Wood to chief executive officer. Wood, a former chief of staff to the Department of Health and Human Services, is now president of BGR Government Affairs, the firm’s lobbying arm.
BGR Group also announced that CEO Lanny Griffith will become chairman. Ed Rogers, chairman of BGR Group, will continue as Founding Partner, a designation he will share with Haley Barbour, the former governor of Mississippi and former chairman of the Republican National Committee.
The changes are effective January 1, 2019.
The moves are designed to recognize Wood’s outstanding leadership to the firm and to prepare it for further growth and success in Washington, the firm said. Last year, BGR Group had its best year in its 27-year history. The growth continues this year.
“All of us plan to remain just as active in the firm and for a long time,” Rogers said. “In the meantime, we are thrilled to recognize and reward the next generation of leadership. BGR is well positioned to prosper for many years to come.”
BGR was founded in 1991 by White House aides Barbour and Rogers. Griffith, who also worked at the White House, joined after the 1992 elections. BGR became bipartisan and added a public relations company in 2008. Wood, who joined in 2003, has been president of BGR Government Affairs since 2005.
BGR Group’s practices include international, public relations, health care, commerce, state-and-local affairs, financial services and taxation.
